Editorial

Historia y mimesis

This lecture was given at the University of Estrasburg as a part of the Investigation Program: “On History”. It begins by arguing that German Philosophy is essentially Philosophy of History and that History is, for German Philosophy, Essentiality itself. These are the hypothesis on which lies a new interpretation of Nietzsche’s Second Untimely Meditation, Use and Abuse of History for Life (1873) as one of the most important documents on History Thought of German tradition. The lecture explores the Nietzschean concepts of passive and active “Mimesis”, its Greek and Kantian heritage and, finally, the Heidegger’s readings of Nietzsche’s Second Untimely Meditation.

La historia y las historias

This essay is a chapter of the book Dall’esilio. La crazione artistica como testimonianza. It explores Nietzsche’s concept of History as developed on his Second Untimely Meditation, Use and Abuse of History for Life (1873). It argues that Nietzsche anticipates prophetically present times: in a negative perspective, by criticizing the abuse of History that leads to a kind of indifferent equality and to a state of saturation of the breaches and breakages in past times. In a positive perspective, by showing that a correct attitude toward the past can lead Thought to think against itself promoting new ways of moving and comunicating, such as works of art. The essay explores, in the last place, the relationship between Nietzsche’s heritage, Literature and Philosophy.

Alternativas a la historia en el pensamiento de Nietzsche

According to Nietzsche, History is useful only if it transforms the present. Oblivion is the possibility for the unknown to occur. This doesn’t mean restricting all capacity for recollection. Instead, it is about relating history to the practise of suspicion. In so doing, there comes a detachment from the aim of objectivity, which entails a “really existing past”, in order to turn it into an active potential in the creation of values. In this way, the genealogist’s task of interpreting symptoms and withdrawing forces is constituted, facing the objective and universal history. We will also deal with the concept of amor fati, as an assertion about chance.

El filósofo legislador. Inactualidad del “nosotros” nietzscheano en la Genealogía de la moral

This work lies within the post-nietzschean theme regarding the question of “community”. “We are unknown to ourselves, we men of knowledge —and with good reason. We have never sought ourselves.” In this excerpt from the beginning of On the Genealogy of Morals are ciphered the gnoseo-epistemic problem of knowledge and truth (the problem of “knowing”), as well as the ethico-political problem of the organization of the community (the problem of “we”), and the logico-linguistic problem of the nomination of phenomena (the problem of “searching”). The problem of knowing, of knowing ourselves and the unknown is inseparable from the problem of the actual modes adopted by the search, and from the power relations expressed in languages. Once this map is drawn, we will sustain that Nietzsche’s “polemical work” is not only a genealogy of morals, but also a genealogy of truth and a genealogy of the subject.

Fantasmas que se cruzan. Política y mesianismo en Walter Benjamin y Jacques Derrida

This paper aims to define certain discountinuing continuities between Benjaminian and Derridean philosophies regarding the topic of messianism and its application in political thinking. We consider that it is this re-invention of the messianic and this new application of messianism in political philosophy that make possible the abandonment of traditional attempts to think a relation of subordination (foundation) of politics to theology, to open up the possibility of thinking theology as providing –within a line of thought initiated by the Schmittian tradition– certain figures that could allow us to think the movement of the political, its renewal and the need to underline the provisory character of all positivity.

Archivo, memoria, política

The question about the archive is inseparable from the question about memory: one leads to the other, and reciprocally. This paper tries to distinguish both questions by reflecting on the links between each one of them and what is usually referred as politics. This entails reflecting, ultimately, on the notions of archive and memory as determinants of politics as such. In regard to the unique relation between these concepts, the policies undertaken on their behalf and the State, we will address emblematic texts of Jacques Derrida in order to draw some tentative conclusions from them.

Jean-Luc Nancy. Hacia una ontología ecotécnica para un ‘giro material’ del mundo

In this paper I work on some theses of Jean-Luc Nancy that aim to show how the Cartesian dualism on which our tradition seems to settle can be read as an ontology of the in-between. This ontology should release the body of the shackles of the mind, opening a space in which the corporeality can acquire its own entity, one that is not subordinated to the ‘soul’. Based on this reading, Nancy’s writing can be considered as a renewed materialism, articulated on the notion of touch and on a sensual twist of sense. This will allow, in turn, to understand the contemporary world as ‘ecotechnics’ and to apprehend bodies in their extension and spacing.

La retirada de lo jurídico

This paper analyzes the juridical closure in the work of M. Foucault. In the first place, it presents the connection between “Right” and “Power” from the 16th to the 19th centuries in Europe. An analogy is drawn between this connection and the dejuridization in the work of Foucault, both at the historical and the methodological level. In the next place, a question concerning the withdrawal around the Right is outlined, as well as the re-contextualisation of the subject in texts written during the seventies. Furthermore, the notion of “flagrant offense” is reviewed, as well as its connection with the “neutrality”, even in the idea of Popular Court. Finally, we discuss the bond between the philosopher’s post-juridical stand and 20th century neoliberal stands.
